On 16–17 October 2024, representatives from all VALUES partner organisations travelled to Szczecin, Poland, for the project’s first in-person transnational meeting.
Hosted by the University of Szczecin at its Institute of Management, the two-day meeting brought the partnership together to establish a strong basis for collaboration and agree on the next steps for delivering the VALUES project.
Building a shared vision for VALUES
The first day began with introductions from each partner organisation, followed by an overview of the project objectives, timeline, work packages, expected results and arrangements for communication and collaboration.
Partners then turned their attention to the project’s main educational results. EUEI and Generation Change led discussions on WP2 – The VALUES Starter Kit for Ethical AI, including its objectives, organisation and development process.
This was followed by sessions on WP3 – the AI Skills Self-Assessment Platform, led by The Vision Works, and WP4 – Artificial Intelligence in Youth Education OERs, led by Momentum. These discussions helped partners understand how the different project resources will connect and support young people and youth educators in developing practical and responsible AI skills.
The first day concluded with a session on the project’s Quality Management and Impact Strategy, including an Impact+ workshop to help partners consider how VALUES can create meaningful and lasting results.
Planning for impact and sustainability
On the second day, partners discussed the VALUES brand and project website, as well as the project’s Sharing and Sustaining Strategy.
The meeting concluded with practical discussions around project management, financial procedures and reporting, ensuring that all partners had a clear understanding of responsibilities and upcoming activities.
The Szczecin meeting marked an important starting point for VALUES, giving partners the opportunity to build relationships, align their expertise and establish a shared approach to helping young people navigate the opportunities and ethical challenges created by artificial intelligence.
